The Mists of Avalon
The front appears to be the classic tale of King Arthur as told by Morgaine
(Morgan le Fay) by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Morgaine is noblely holding up
Excalibur, her brave white steed with her in the mists outside Avalon. The
sword itself is painted in silver and the hilt is highlighted with a gold and
silver gem, creating a "3-D" look on the cover. The scene is bordered with
Celtic knotwork painted in silver and gold. A gorgeous cover of blues, whites,
pearl and reds.
The spine is a continuation of the front scene, complete with a small "emblem".
The back is particularly cool- it features our heroine looking across the lake to
Camelot, which looms over the countryside and Lancelot waiting for her on the adjacent shore.
The bottom has a vintage border of beasts and trees, highlighted in gold and silver.
The whole thing is covered in a glossy protective finish.
This is an absolutely
wonderful piece for any fan of literature, fantasy, Arthurian legend, witchery,
Wicca, or Marion Zimmer Bradley. Would make a great gift for yourself or for
someone else!
